Meet Dr. Shahir Malek

Periodontist in Inver Grove Heights, MN

In 2009, Dr. Malek earned his general practice degree from Misr International University in Egypt. He was class president and gave the graduation speech. He then went on to complete his general practice residency in 2010. In 2011, he attended Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) to study and work with his mentor, Nabil F. Bissada, DDS, MSD. There he completed his Periodontal Residency and did research regarding the link between oral cancer and periodontal disease. He was one of three finalists who presented their research at the Midwest Society of Periodontology meeting in Chicago.

Dr. Malek is well trained in periodontics and implant dentistry, having experience with a number of implant systems, as well as CT Scanning. He is also trained in IV Sedation, Cardiac Life Support and Wilckodontics. In his career, Dr. Malek has participated in a number of community dental clinics and societies.

He enjoys many outdoor activities, including scuba diving, boating and skiing. Dr. Malek is fluent in English, French and Arabic.

Dr. Malek is a board-certified periodontist.
